Are you looking at your options? If not, maybe you should be.

If you’re a Dell, EMC, or VCE customer, you’ve got a lot to think about. Dell’s $67 billion acquisition of EMC Corp. is yet to close amidst tremendous angst and huge drops in EMC and VMware stock prices as both investors and customers struggle to identify the value that the merger will bring them.

In a transcript filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and reported by CRN on February 2, 2016, Howard Elias—EMC's president and COO—and Rory Read—Dell’s COO—recently spoke to EMC employees. What they said was both revealing and potentially concerning. Elias said, “Dell and EMC will “still operate somewhat separately in certain parts of the business just due to systems, due to customer relationships.”

What does that mean for your business?

If you’re looking for an integrated platform that meets the needs of agile app development and cloud to deliver the business outcomes you need, you may have to wait a while to find out what the Dell/EMC relationship will deliver. Or you could accelerate the process by exploring an alternative that offers a visionary strategy, fully integrated solutions, reliable roadmaps, and the commitment you need from a partner to help transform and grow your business.
