N2TUG will present 'Wishes Come True – Celebrating New Partnerships'
Benefitting Make a Wish® Foundation of North Texas'
Thursday, May 5th, 2016.
The North Texas and Oklahoma NonStop Users Group (N2TUG), in conjunction with the local HPE NonStop Sales team and our very generous NonStop Vendors, are excited to invite you to a day full of great messages about NonStop, followed by some fun at the Blue Mesa restaurant in Plano, complete with a bit of sharing. Save the date – May 5, 2016 – and plan to attend!
The meeting will start at 9 AM at the Hilton Dallas/Plano Granite Park in Plano, TX, with evening activities at the Blue Mesa Grill directly across the street. We especially wish to thank OmniPayments Inc. In addition to serving as a platinum sponsor of the day’s activities; OmniPayments has generously stepped up big time, and is our exclusive sponsor for the evening entertainment as well.
Note: Parking at the Hotel is free if you’re staying in one of their guest rooms, but it is $10 otherwise. We’ve arranged for you to park your car at the Blue Mesa for free and to walk across to the Hilton Convention Center entrance. It’s not far at all, and the Texas weather for Thursday is looking very nice (at least so far).
The event happens to fall on a day when Mexico celebrates an important battle in their Independence from Spain; representing very clearly the historical struggles that formed our area. With that background, we also find ourselves in our first year of having the NonStop platform under the care of Hewlett-Packard Enterprises, or HPE. In many ways, the faithful users of NonStop systems have been wishing to be in this position, with the platform as the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of our vendor. Just last November, HPE Chief Technology Officer Martin Fink called “NonStop X – the best software platform on the planet!” which puts the HPE’s belief in the platform in perspective.
It seems fitting that we use the fact that our wishes have been fulfilled to bring our ‘NonStop’ friends and associates together to make more wishes come true. Diane and I felt that one of the best vehicles to do that is through the Make a Wish® Foundation of North Texas! So, in addition to planning our meeting as usual, we’re inviting people who’ve been part of NonStop since the early Tandem days to join us in the evening, a true ‘Tandem Reunion’.
Many of our generous sponsors have donated really cool gifts to a ‘Silent Auction’ we are holding in the evening. Those gifts (and some others) will be laid out on tables in the restaurant, and anyone can bid on them. At the end of the evening, we’ll announce the winners of the auction (but you must be present to win, and pay for the items at the time). 100% of the results of the auction will go directly to the Make a Wish® Foundation of North Texas!
Our evening location, Blue Mesa Grill, is not a ‘Mexican’ or ‘Tex-Mex’ venue, but one with a uniquely Southwestern US menu which we feel is representative of our part of the world. We’re looking forward to sharing some of our region’s “party style” with our sponsors, as well as Tandem folks and of course the entire North Texas and Oklahoma NonStop family.
The Keynote presentation will be given by Roland Lemoine of HPE, the new NonStop Database Product Manager.
We have a full slate of presenters lined up for the day, and we will have Breakfast and Lunch at the Hilton, as well as a plenty of food and drink during the evening at Blue Mesa.
