FREE Cloud Computing Conference, GMIT Galway, Friday September 14th
What do you need to know about Cloud Computing?
Despite
Cloud Computing's growth in popularity, many IT professionals
are still unsure of all the available benefits this platform
offers.
ITAG (IT
Association of Galway) is organizing a FREE day-long technical
conference ‘CloudBusting’ on Friday September 14th
which will be hosted on the GMIT campus, and supported by
HP and GMIT. The conference aims to tackle this question by
examining the technologies and services offered in the cloud.
This day
will give attendees insight on essential cloud topics
including available delivery models, market trends and
benefits that can be achieved by implementing a Cloud
solution.
It will be a
"cross-over " community event covering aspects of the Cloud
with 5 tracks and over 20 sessions covering Social Media, Web,
Music and DevOps and Start-ups. It is hoped to attract
developers, architects, entrepreneurs, system administrators,
IT professionals, marketers, web designers and devops folks
Learn about
Cloud offerings from private, hybrid, to public cloud and
understand the differences between IaaS, PaaS, SaaS. Wherever you are on your
journey to the cloud there should be something of interest for
you across the day which features five distinct tracks
(start-ups, web, social media, devops, music) and over twenty
sessions that attendees can pick and choose content to fit
their unique needs. The plan is that attendees will go away
with the understanding of what is necessary for the different
ways to architect, develop and deploy applications and IT
solutions in the cloud but also that they leave with some food
for thought working on the web in general.
The keynote
speaker is Dave Allen foundational member of post punk band
Gang Of Four. Dave is Director, Interactive Strategy at North,
Inc and an Adjunct Lecturer, Digital Brand Strategy at the
University of Oregon and has some interesting ideas,
experiences on music and technology and on the web in general
with what he refers to as "thinking about Webism".
There will
also be a chance to listen to a wide range of speakers and
meet with some of the new exciting Irish start-up companies
working in the cloud as they share their stories.
