What is Reliability?
The terms used to define computer system reliability are what may be considered “slushy.” There are no agreed-upon definitions. There is, however, a simple method by which to quantify system reliability, eliminating any ambiguity or suggestion of marketing intent. The result is a table that compares different, highly reliable technologies for IT systems.

Software-Defined & Cloud

It has been a very interesting April with a lot of announcements happening both from HPE and within the industry, as infrastructure consumption needs continue to adjust. Last year it was all about moving everything to the cloud, this year the age of Hybrid IT is emerging and the need to better understand the best places to run applications, based upon security and  data location with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation laws) kicking in May 25. Along with that, it was exciting to see the general availability of HPE OneSphere which helps customers manage their apps in a multi-cloud environment, and HPE ProLiant for Microsoft Azure Stack for building private cloud. It was also interesting to hear Dell/EMC announce Kinetic Infrastructure, something that sounds very much like Composable Infrastructure. And lastly, the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Hyperconverged continues to influence in the industry and how customers are using hyperconverged to run test and dev along with production environments.

I have included article on each…happy reading!!

XYPRO – Getting Things Done - Lisa Partridge, CEO

I’m a head down, roll up your sleeves kind of leader. I started out at XYPRO on the ground floor 27 years ago and feel most comfortable in the trenches with the team, making sure they’ve got what they need to be successful.  This blog is an excellent exercise in reflection as the events of a year are distilled into a message that conveys where we’ve been and where we’re going as a company.
What drives us every day?  What is XYPRO’s raison d’etre? We all live our daily lives relying on technology.  Mission Critical security solutions allow us to securely shop, bank, manage our finances and stock portfolios, wire money and pay for things with credit cards, mobile phones and all types of newer tech innovations. At the heart of these activities is the digital core where your data resides – moving, talking, transacting, doing what data does.  At XYPRO, we believe that no data is more important than your data and we protect your data like it’s our own.  Because it is.

HPE Storage News

News from Around the Storage Block – from HPEStorageGuy Calvin Zito

Some really good posts on Around the Storage Block to check out:

  • On May 7th, we announced new HPE Nimble Storage platforms. My blog post titled HPE Nimble Storage news: Bigger, faster, better summarizes the announcement. Several blog posts that will dive deeper will be published and you can find them with this link to all our ATSB Storage News.
  • I’m always hearing customers ask whether they should continue to use external storage (like an all-flash array) or hyperconverged infrastructure. I tackled this topic in Choosing between an all-flash array and hyperconverged – and I gotta say, I think this is a great post. I’m not bragging because I asked product teams and even a customer questions that were the basis for my blog post.
  • Another popular post in the month was Virtualization is dead and forgotten. Is it really? Read the post from my colleague Mike Harding to see what he really thinks.
  • We have a new storage blog – HPE Storage Tech Insiders. This blog is where you will see technical blog posts from engineering and tech marketing talking about how to use or make better use of your HPE Storage solutions.

Be sure you’re following @HPE_Storage and you can always find me on Twitter as @CalvinZito.
